The Crisis

Call it what you want, the Crisis, the Great Recession. By whatever name, the reckoning that began in earnest late in 2007 marks one of the most significant events ever to occur in the United States. The effects will continue to be felt not just for years, but decades to come. We would be foolish not to learn from it. Use the resources on this page to educate yourself!

The beginning

The build-up to the crisis began with a "relaxing" of lending standards so that more people would qualify for mortgage loans. This would boost home ownership. We recommend that you read the remarkable New York Times article "Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending" now.

Learning about the Crisis

One of the main purposes of Investeens is education. We continue to address the Crisis throughout the site, especially as its effects continue to play out.

Although alarming, this film gave me a great perspective on what really went on during the 2007-2010 financial crisis. In my opinion, this documentary was interesting because it shows how the economic crisis developed right from the people who started it, the corrupt members in our government. These people practically costed innocent individuals their life. The economic meltdown resulted in the loss of people’s jobs, their homes, and a total of over $20 trillion in debt.

movie was extremely informative and exposed the corruption in our government and financial system. It showed that many top executives, if not all, have a conflict of interest. In order for our country to experience change and recovery, there needs to be an attempt to rid the government of all who contributed to the financial crisis we are currently in.

I think the movie did a superb job of depicting the events that occured and impact its going to have. It really showed the corruption going on inside the goverment between the government and extremely large companies.

It is amusing how Wall street CEO’s lived life’s filled with luxury while banks were failing. What surprised me most was that when Henry Paulson joined the government he didn’t need to pay taxes on his shares of Goldman Sachs saving him Millions.

I believe that the documentary took an audacious viewpoint in order to show the corruption of the people holding the most power in our nation all for money. I believe that this shows money is the root of all evil, especially shown through how it was able to corrupt not only the economic, but also the political and educational systems in this country. At the moment, it seems like that the system is unable to be affected, and that a revolution must occur in order to get rid of the corruption. Punishments must be given, and a new wave of officials needs to take power. deuces.

I think the movie was very interesting and it goes to show how business can be so corrupt, and that greedy businessmen were the reason for the economic recession. I also find it interesting how it’s so hard, almost impossible to recover.
